On 6th October 2019, the TIGRIS Consortium held is 2nd Annual Dissemination Conference at the Ramada Hotel in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region/Iraq.
The event, titled “With TIGRIS into the future – Building Internationalisation Strategies for Higher Education in Kurdistan Region of Iraq”, was hosted by the project’s regional co-coordinator, the Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research (KISSR).
Focusing on the project’s activities and achievements in the second year, during the event Kurdish HEI partners as well as the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research presented their internationalisation strategies developed and discussed their experience during the development process. As part of the presentations, partners also prepared a poster walk providing ample opportunity to discuss their developed strategies with interested parties in more detail.
The conference, which in part was broadcasted live in TV, saw a wide variety of guests including a high number of representatives from Kurdish HEIs, University Presidents and members of the Council of the Ministry. As guest of honor, the TIGRIS Consortium was especially delighted to welcome His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Aram Mohammed Quadir, who delivered a welcome address to the audience.
The TIGRIS Consortium used the event for a follow-up project management meeting on 7th October 2019 engaging in planning activities for the third and final project year.
On 8th October 2019, a delegation from the University of Göttingen, the University of Groningen and the Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research was received by His Excellency Dr. Aram Mohammed Quadir at the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Erbil, during which both sides discussed the current status of the TIGRIS Project as well as potential follow-up projects.
